Finding the Compassion Within--- Dharma Talk by Venerable Renda

One with a compassionate heart could enable harmony for his family, smooth relationship for his work place and neighborhood, and even peace for the world. Compassion could bring benefits to both professional and family life.
        一个人如果充满慈悲心的话,就能够使家庭和睦,社会和谐,邻里关系、工作关系、同事关系都能够和顺。这样对自己工作、家庭、生活都会有好处,都会有促进作用。


We can train ourselves to become more compassionate. There are six steps and four wishes to do so.
        慈悲心是可以训练的。训练慈悲心有六个步骤、四个祝福。


 In such training, we should first wish ourselves free from hatred, hostility, danger, physical pains and mental suffering. May we rest in peace and joy. Second, we should wish the same for our mothers, as we owe the most to them. We wish them free from hatred, hostility, danger, physical pains and mental suffering. May they rest in peace and joy. Then we extend our best wishes to our fathers, our grandparents, our neighbors, our classmates, our colleagues, and even to those we have serious conflicts with. We wish them free from hatred, hostility, danger, physical pains and mental suffering. May they rest in peace and joy. After that, we can extend such wishes to the whole world or even the whole universe. In this way, our mind get broader and broader, then we could find the compassion within.
        在进行慈悲心训练的时候,首先要祝福自己:没有仇敌与敌意,没有怨恨与危险,没有身体与精神的痛苦,永远保持快乐。第二个步骤是对母亲,因为母亲的恩情最大。祝福母亲没有仇敌与敌意,没有怨恨与危险,没有身体与精神的痛苦,永远保持快乐。然后再把这种祝福扩大,对父亲、祖父祖母、外公外婆、街坊邻居、同学同事,再进一步扩大,扩大到自己的对立面,矛盾很深的人乃至于仇人,也祝福他们没有仇敌与敌意,没有怨恨与危险,没有身体与精神的痛苦,永远保持快乐。再把这四个祝福进一步扩大,扩大到全世界乃至整个宇宙,这样,自己的心胸就扩大了,慈悲心也就逐渐地长养起来。
